Welcome to Jib-Bob Korean Restaurant
Eating Local: Mt.Pleasant Michigan- Jib-Bob Korean Restaurant. Our little local adventure produced the most amazing experience! Skyler our eldest wanted to try a new restaurant, Jib-Bob. We arrived shortly before 1pm on a Sunday. It was a good thing that we got there early, as by 2pm the restaurant was filling up with customers. We ordered several items, all prepared fresh for our enjoyment. In this post each item we ordered will be featured and described. And then I will introduce you to Maya, the owner of Jib-Bob, she surprised us with explaining one of her dishes and showing us how to eat it correctly. Eating Local: Jib-Bob Korea Restaurant means having an adventure right in your own neighborhood. No need to leave town to find excellent cuisine, and an authentic experience.
Eating Local: Mt.Pleasant Michigan -Entering Jib- Bob
Eating Local: Mt.Pleasant Michigan, Jib-Bob Korean Restaurant is a surprise and a cultural experience before you even walk in. This location was once a local co-op grocery store. It was nice to see the changes Maya made to the location. The entrance is adorned with cultural carvings. The carvings are rustic, yet colorful and cheerful. They prepare you for what you can expect once you get into the restaurant.
As you walk through the entrance to the courtyard, you are met with the smell of the apples that have fallen off the tree. The courtyard is earthy and rustic. The inside of the restaurant has the same similar cultural decorations, the restaurant is clean and inviting. I just love when businesses use live edge wood in their decor. We originally planned to sit inside, but when we were looking at the menu, we quickly learned how good their air conditioning unit works…it was a bit chilly. So, we quickly ordered multiple dishes to try and decided to sit outside in the gazebo.
The gazebo area was comfortable, until the food arrived and then the bee’s decided to join the party! I do think if they screened in the area, they would capitalize on seating, I am sure customers would welcome outdoor seating that did not include bee’s. I personally choose outdoor seating anytime it is offered.
Eating Local: Mt.Pleasant Michigan-Ordering our food

Eating Local: Mt.Pleasant Michigan, it is always nice when there is an opportunity to try new things locally. Skyler, our daughter is much more of a foodie. She is obsessed with Asian culture and is always game for trying multiple dishes whenever she can. Skyler is studying to become a teacher and plans to pursue teaching in South Korea. Needless to say, she was having the time of her life at Jib-Bob and we ordered WAY too much food. Let’s just say Skyler left the restaurant with a week’s worth of leftovers!
Stir-Fried Rice Cake with Fish cake, Cabbage, Green Onion with Cheese–
This dish was my least favorite. Not because of flavor, but because the rice sticks are very dense and chewy and for me it was a texture issue. The taste on the other hand was very good, a sweet and spicy flare. I really did try to like them; it was just a lot of chewing.

Instant K- Ramen- Flavors Vary–

Skyler wanted to try these noodles; I did agree to try them myself. I can say that the flavor was pretty amazing. They were definitely a bit spicy, but they had great flavor. The spicy was not overwhelming.
Dak Gal-Bi–
Stir fried marinated chicken breast with Gochoojang (chili) sauce, onions, carrots- This chicken dish was AMAZING! I would definitely order this dish again. The chicken was tender and the entire dish was very flavorful.

Man-Doo –

Five fried dumplings served with soy vinaigrette. Choice of kimchi or regular (Minced pork and vegetable. These little fried dumplings with minced pork were very good. When they came to the table, I was already full of everything else, it was just impossible to make room for them!
Sam-Gyeop-Sal-Goo-EE–
BBQ pork belly grilled on an iron skillet and wrapped with soybean paste and vegetables. This dish was a bit confusing; it came with a potato hash brown on the side, and we never did find the BBQ sauce. but this was also the dish that was the most fun. Maya came out to speak with us, and she showed us how to properly eat it. You use a romaine leaf, then put a piece of pork on it, then a little soybean paste, topped with any veggies you want, wrap it up and then eat it in one bite. It was DELICIOUS! Maya explained to us that she makes the soybean paste from scratch.

Bibim-Gook-Soo –
Cold spicy (rice) noodles topped with carrots, lettuce, cabbage, Gochoojang sauce- this dish also came with an egg on top, and to be honest it was very good. The noodles are a sweet spicy taste. I really liked this and was a little disappointed that I had filled up on everything else before trying this dish.

Bibim-Bob–

Warm rice topped with assorted vegetables and a fried egg with spicy and sweet Gochoojang sauce- choice of bulgogi (beef) or tofu. This dish was another one I would order. The beef was incredibly tender, the veggies were perfect!
